Be Still and Believe
Short Summary of Proverbs 28
Proverbs 28 is a bold call to righteous living and inner accountability. It addresses courage, justice, greed, repentance, and the danger of trusting our own understanding. This chapter warns us that covering up sin leads to spiritual decay, but confessing and turning from it brings mercy and renewal. It teaches us to be rooted in truth, not swayed by fear, confusion, or external approval.
Verse Reflections
Proverbs 28:1
“The wicked flee though no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.”
There is power in purity. This verse reminds us that when we walk in integrity, we walk with authority. Fear is often rooted in hidden guilt. But righteousness builds boldness. There is no need to run when you have nothing to hide.
Proverbs 28:9
“If anyone turns a deaf ear to my instruction, even their prayers are detestable.”
This verse is sobering. It teaches us that we cannot bypass obedience to get blessings. God honors the prayers of those who honor His instruction. When we ignore what He’s already said, we block what He wants to do next. Instruction is protection.
Proverbs 28:13
“Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.”
This is one of the most powerful repentance verses in all of Scripture. Prosperity begins with honesty. The moment we stop hiding and start healing, mercy rushes in. Confession is not just for guilt relief, it is the gateway to transformation.
Proverbs 28:26
“Those who trust in themselves are fools, but those who walk in wisdom are kept safe.”
This verse reminds us that our instincts alone are not enough. Wisdom comes from God. Protection comes from alignment. When we lean on our own understanding, we become vulnerable to deception. But walking in divine wisdom secures us.
📖 Psalm Reflection
Psalm 119:42
“Then I can answer anyone who taunts me, for I trust in your word.”
This verse anchors us. When we are questioned, challenged, or doubted, our response does not come from fear. It comes from the assurance that God’s Word speaks for us and over us.

Tarot Reflection
The Ace of Feathers reflects Saul’s life-changing moment in Acts 9:4. When Jesus asked, “Saul, why do you persecute me?” it was a call to stop, surrender, and see clearly. God often interrupts what we think is right to align us with what is holy.
The Page of Candles mirrors Miriam’s response in Exodus 15:21. After the Red Sea parted and the Israelites were delivered, she led the people in praise. This card reminds us that spiritual expression is a response to God’s proven faithfulness.
The Hermit reflects the life of John the Baptist. His solitude was not isolation, it was preparation. The wilderness became his sanctuary. Sometimes God calls us away from the crowd so we can hear Him more clearly.
Uriel as The Tower reminds us that divine disruption is part of transformation. When what we built begins to crumble, it is not always an attack, it can be an answered prayer. Destruction often clears the way for divine design.

🤲🏾 Prayer
Father God,
I thank You for being the kind of God who desires honesty over perfection. Thank You for calling me to truth even when it hurts. I come before You today with a heart that is willing to be examined. I repent for the ways I’ve ignored Your instruction. I repent for trusting my own voice more than Yours. I repent for the secrets I’ve tried to bury and the fears I’ve allowed to lead me. Cleanse me from every root of pride, confusion, and self-reliance.
Your Word in Proverbs 28:13 says that the one who confesses and renounces their sins finds mercy. I come boldly to Your mercy seat. I don’t want to keep covering up. I want to be covered by You. I no longer want to pretend. I want to be free. Lord, show me what I need to release today. Expose every place where I’ve been trying to protect myself from You. Pull me back into divine alignment.
You are not a God of confusion. You are a God of peace and clarity. Where there is overthinking, bring order. Where there is fear, bring stillness. I ask, as Isaiah 7:11 says, for a sign from You whether in the highest heavens or the deepest depths make it plain. Quiet the noise and confirm my next steps.
Let this be the season I stop fleeing from truth. Let me walk boldly as the righteous do, with clean hands and a clear heart. Purify my foundation. Fortify my faith. And help me surrender again.
I seal this prayer in restoration, revelation, and repentance. In Jesus’ name, amen.
