Story of Sarah: The Canary’s Whisper

Sarah sat at the edge of her usual park bench, watching her group of friends laughing and snapping photos by the fountain. One of them, Eliza, had just gotten a big promotion and was sharing the news with beaming pride. As her friends cheered and hugged her, Sarah felt a familiar weight settle over her heart. A tightness. A silent storm she knew well. She glanced down, fiddling with the hem of her yellow sweater, suddenly feeling out of place, like a shadow amidst the celebration.

Nearby, a bright yellow canary perched on a low branch, its tiny eyes observing her intently. Sarah found herself drawn to it, noticing its vivid feathers, the way it seemed so bold and unafraid. The canary chirped, and somehow, it felt as though the song carried words only she could understand.

The words echoed in her mind, something like, “Why hold your light so tightly in the dark?” She shook her head, dismissing the thought, but couldn’t shake the bird’s gaze.

As Sarah returned her attention to her friends, she caught sight of Daniel, her friend of over 10 years, watching her carefully. Daniel had a knack for sensing things Sarah would rather keep hidden, and today was no different. He came over, holding out a small cup of tea he’d picked up at a nearby cart.

“Eliza’s news is pretty great, right?” he asked, his tone gentle but probing.

“Yeah, I guess. I mean, she’s worked hard for it,” Sarah mumbled, though her words lacked conviction.

The question struck her, unraveling a hidden truth. Her hands trembled slightly as she clutched the warm cup. She looked away, struggling to find an answer that didn’t feel like a lie. The canary chirped again, louder this time, almost demanding her attention. She glanced up, meeting Daniel’s eyes, feeling something stir within her. It was a mixture of shame and yearning.

Daniel’s gaze softened as he studied her. “Sarah, when was the last time you felt happy for someone else?” Daniel placed a reassuring hand on Sarah’s shoulder, a warm smile softening his gaze. “You know, Sarah, there’s someone I think you should meet. She’s a spiritual life coach. She helps understand these feelings, this ability to sense things in others, even when they’re hidden. Before her, I didn’t trust my intuition, didn’t know how to use it without second guessing myself. After a few sessions with her she showed me how to tune in, to let my intuition guide me. I think she could help you, too, find the strength to confront what you’re feeling and maybe even uncover the light you’re holding back. If you’re ready to trust the process”

Sarah: Why am I happy but ...but hurt? I'm not jealous. Am I? I'm genuinely happy but it's still a tingle not a sting but

The Encourager

Sarah often finds herself feeling resentful when her friends achieve success or receive recognition. Rather than celebrating with them, she tends to withdraw or downplay their achievements, which has started to strain her relationships.

Sarah decides to explore the root of these feelings with her new found spiritual life coach.

At first, Sarah kept her sessions with The Encourager virtual, hesitant and unsure about diving into this kind of guidance. Raised with the belief that oracle cards were tied to witchcraft, she’d resisted seeking this path, worried it might lead her astray. But something about The Encourager’s approach, a blend of warmth and wisdom, eased her doubts.

They started with an Oracle Parable, a story Tikisha wrote specifically for Sarah based on the cards she pulled. As the narrative unfolded, Sarah felt as if the story reached deep into her heart, shedding light on feelings she’d buried long ago.

Moved by the experience, Sarah decided to go deeper, booking a consultation to explore the symbols further. In their next meeting, Tikisha welcomed her with a gentle smile, ready to decode the message of the yellow bird that had appeared in that day on the park bench. “The canary is more than just a symbol, Sarah,” Tikisha began softly. “It’s here to help us trace a path back to your true voice and the power you’ve long hidden away…” Sarah leaned forward, feeling her pulse quicken, knowing she was on the edge of something profound.

As Sarah dived into her past, she realized her reactions stem from a childhood where she frequently felt overlooked and unappreciated. Growing up in a family that rarely offered praise, Sarah developed a belief that she was unworthy of recognition. This unhealed wound followed her into adulthood, manifesting as jealousy and resentment toward others’ accomplishments.

Finding Meaning in the Yellow Canary

Spiritually Speaking the color yellow, vivid and radiant, calls to us in unexpected ways, much like the yellow canary that caught Sarah’s attention. Yellow is the color of the solar plexus chakra, the center of personal power, self-worth, and willpower. Its energy urges us to confront the hidden truths within us, just as Sarah was confronted by her own hidden feelings. And then, there are the eyes…

By recognizing her shadow self and addressing the trauma behind it, Sarah takes steps to heal.

Sarah decided to dig deep into her healing journey, seeking the guidance of a therapist to explore her emotional patterns and enlisting Tikisha as her spiritual mentor and life coach. With Tikisha’s gentle encouragement, Sarah began to understand her jealousy and resentment, recognizing them as unhealed wounds from her past. Together, they worked on daily affirmations and set small, achievable goals to rebuild Sarah’s sense of self-worth.

One of Tikisha’s first assignments was simple, yet daunting: compliment one stranger every day. Working in a busy place, Sarah saw plenty of people, but even a small compliment felt like lifting a heavy weight from her chest. The first day, her heart pounded as she forced out, “I love your bag.” But with each passing day, it became a bit easier. Slowly, these small acts of kindness, rooted in genuine connection, began to soften her heart, helping her release the grip of resentment. Tikisha’s support guided Sarah as she learned to find joy in others’ happiness, a shift that began to heal her relationships and, more importantly, her relationship with herself.

Some days, Sarah would come home utterly drained, confusion and frustration washing over her as she sat in her quiet apartment. She’d tried to keep up with the task Tikisha had given her, offering a compliment to a stranger each day, yet even this small act felt like scaling a mountain. There were days when she managed a soft, “I like your shoes,” only to feel a tightness in her chest afterward, a strange resistance that brought her close to tears. Why was something so simple so painful? Why did kindness toward others feel so heavy? Sarah would crumble into her couch, tears slipping down her cheeks as she wrestled with the emotions Tikisha’s exercise was stirring within her. Each time, she’d remind herself this was part of the process, that the discomfort was simply a sign she was digging into something deeper.

Sarah’s journey wasn’t easy. Each step forward often felt like two steps back, and there were countless days when the discomfort of her growth weighed heavily on her. Tikisha had reminded her often that true transformation required patience and courage, but Sarah still found herself questioning why this path had to be so hard. Yet, with every tear shed and every small triumph, she felt a shift within herself…a growing lightness, a deeper understanding of her own worth. She was beginning to see herself through a lens of compassion, and with that, her world started to expand in new ways.

One day, while journaling in her favorite coffee shop, Sarah noticed a young woman who seemed to carry a familiar uncertainty. There was something about her…

As Sarah’s journey unfolded, she began to notice subtle but profound changes in herself. She found joy in her friends’ successes, clapping the loudest at celebrations and offering sincere words of encouragement.

One afternoon at the coffee shop, she met Mia, a young woman who had just moved to town and was struggling to find her footing. Sarah saw something familiar in Mia’s uncertainty… a reflection of her own past insecurities.

Over time, Sarah and Mia grew closer, and Sarah found herself guiding Mia through her own challenges, sharing insights she’d gained on her path of self-worth and self-compassion. Mia listened intently, inspired by Sarah’s transformation and newfound strength. One day, Mia asked with quiet vulnerability, “How did you learn to feel…enough?”

Sarah smiled, her heart full. “It started with the smallest steps,” she said, her gaze softening. “But the real journey? That began the day I stopped looking outside myself for validation.” Just as she spoke, Mia’s phone buzzed with a message from a friend celebrating a success. Sarah watched Mia’s expression shift, and in that moment, Sarah realized she was about to witness the beginning of Mia’s journey… and told her about The Encourager.

Finding Meaning in the Details

Spiritually Speaking for Sarah, the coffee shop had become more than just a place to unwind. The warm aroma of freshly brewed coffee grounded her, filling her with a comforting calm that opened her mind, inviting her to reflect and explore her thoughts through journaling. Tikisha had once told her, “When you find a space that feels right, it’s often a sign your spirit is aligning with something greater.” Sarah took those words to heart, noticing each detail around her with new curiosity… the weathered wooden tables, the familiar trees just outside the window, symbols of resilience and growth that she’d come to associate with her own journey.

On the day she met Mia, the usual sense of calm in the coffee shop held an added spark of something more. It felt like the universe was subtly nudging her, affirming that meeting Mia was no mere coincidence but a synchronicity—a sign Tikisha had taught her, she was indeed on the right path. As she listened to Mia share her own struggles, Sarah realized that this moment, much like the act of writing in her journal, was about making space for healing. It was as if each detail—the coffee, the trees, the presence of a new friend—had woven itself into the fabric of Sarah’s journey, guiding her gently but purposefully forward.

Sarah had affirmed her own values, by focusing on self-compassion and personal growth. She set meaningful goals aligned with her desires, learning to celebrate her friends’ successes from a place of genuine joy. Through this process, Sarah not only transforms her relationships but also sets a new path for her future.

When Sarah reconnected with her friends, the energy was entirely different. She felt lighter, open, and genuinely happy to be in their presence. They laughed, shared stories, and, for the first time, she celebrated their wins without the shadow of jealousy creeping in. Though no one openly acknowledged the shift, Daniel noticed her change. He gave her a knowing smile across the table, as if to say, I see you. Sarah realized in that quiet moment that her journey had not only transformed her but had also deepened her connections, allowing her to truly cherish the people in her life.

By breaking the cycle of jealousy and resentment, she breaks generational patterns of scarcity and comparison. Her healing journey becomes a model for those around her, as she embraces her worth and celebrates others’ achievements sincerely, she sets a tone for future generations, inspiring them to value themselves without needing external validation.

Sarah went from struggle to strength, by embracing her hidden self and learning from her past.

Even though Sarah had come so far, she knew her journey was far from over. There were still layers to unravel, lingering insecurities, and old patterns that needed attention. She continued meeting regularly with her therapist and with Tikisha, depending on her needs but attended Tikisha’s Spiritually Speaking events regularly.

Sarah began attending Tikisha’s Spiritually Speaking events, finding a sense of community and understanding she hadn’t realized she needed. Sometimes, she simply listened, absorbing the stories of others, and even without saying a word, she felt uplifted and inspired. The classes Tikisha offered gave Sarah invaluable insights; each session was like an open-form blueprint, a flexible guide for her own journey. Nothing was ever forced, just gentle encouragement and space to discover her path in a way that felt authentic and freeing.

The comfort of knowing she had this ongoing support, especially guidance that felt divinely inspired, was a gift she didn’t take for granted. The more she walked this path, the more she recognized its depth and beauty, realizing there was nothing dark or misguided in it, only a call to healing and self-discovery.

Tikisha never pressured her to accept every teaching or insight; instead, she encouraged Sarah to take only what resonated, allowing her to follow her own intuition. This freedom reassured Sarah, as did the scriptures Tikisha often shared, grounding her spiritual journey in a familiar faith. Those verses became a bridge, connecting her closer to God and showing her that her path was sacred, divinely guided, and aligned with her beliefs. Sarah knew she could continue forward with faith, supported and empowered, as she embraced a newfound sense of peace and purpose.

Her journey toward healing not only frees her from her past but also plants seeds of confidence and kindness in the generations to come, ending cycles of jealousy and resentment and creating a legacy of authentic support and self-love.

What’s your growth story?

Allow Tikisha to help write it with her new service, Oracle Parables. It’s storytelling time - when I was a child my generation led me to believe the stories were lies by simply saying “don’t tell that story” but maybe just maybe the story was never a lie they just didn’t want me to tell it they want others to watch it…

My story.

Small was my first demon.

Ever "played small" "less than" "humble under others"???

Who was your first demon?

Shadow Work

1. Journaling on Childhood Memories: Sarah dedicated time each week to journal about moments from her childhood where she felt overlooked or unappreciated. By writing about these experiences, she allowed herself to process and release the emotions she hadn’t fully acknowledged. She reflected on how these moments shaped her belief system around self-worth and recognition.

2. Scripture Based Self-Belief Practice: Sarah created a daily affirmation routine to counteract her feelings of inadequacy. She would start each morning with affirmations like, “I am worthy of success,” “I celebrate the achievements of others,” and “I trust in my unique path.” This helped her rewire the negative beliefs that had taken root over the years.

3. Gratitude for Others’ Success: Instead of withdrawing or downplaying others’ accomplishments, Sarah made an intentional effort to congratulate her friends sincerely. She even wrote thank you notes or sent small tokens of appreciation to acknowledge their successes. Practicing gratitude helped her cultivate a mindset that celebrated abundance rather than competition.

4. Inner Child Meditation: Sarah explored guided inner child meditations, where she visualized herself meeting her younger self - the child who felt unseen. In these meditations, she would comfort her younger self, offering words of encouragement and validation that she didn’t receive growing up. This allowed her to address the root of her insecurities directly.

5. Setting Personal Goals and Celebrating Small Wins: To build her own confidence, Sarah began setting small, achievable personal goals and made sure to celebrate each one. She would reward herself for her efforts, whether it was treating herself to a favorite meal or acknowledging her progress in her journal. By recognizing her own milestones, she stopped seeking validation only through comparison to others.

6. Therapy and Mentorship: Sarah decided to work with a therapist and spiritual mentor to explore her emotions on a deeper level. Through this guidance, she could better understand her patterns and learn strategies to approach jealousy and resentment with self-awareness and compassion.

7. Practicing Visualization of a Future Without Resentment: Sarah spent time visualizing a future where she felt free from jealousy and filled with genuine joy for herself and others. She imagined herself as a supportive friend and family member who inspired those around her to embrace abundance. This visualization helped her reframe her mindset and prepare her for future situations.

8. Family Reflection Ritual: Since Sarah wanted to break the cycle for future generations, she created a family ritual around gratitude and celebration of each other’s successes. During this family meeting everyone shared something positive from their lives, reinforcing a spirit of support and breaking generational patterns of competition and scarcity.
