Sirach 4-6 KJVAAE
She is your mirror
Who is she, the Wisdom of the Bible?
In Proverbs and Wisdom Literature, including Sirach and Wisdom of Solomon, “Her” is Divine Wisdom Personified. She is a presence. A Spirit. A guide. In Hebrew, the word for wisdom is Chokmah (חָכְמָה), and in Greek, Sophia (Σοφία). Both are feminine. That is why wisdom is consistently referred to as “she” and “her.” She is the Spirit of Divine Intelligence, the presence of God’s truth in feminine form. So when you ask, “Who is she?” Spirit answers, “She is Me, in a voice you can recognize. She is your mirror. She is you, when you listen to Me clearly.”
Summary of Sirach 4-6:
These chapters call us into deep integrity, courageous speech, and careful relationships. Sirach 4:1-18 focuses on protecting the poor, lifting the oppressed, and valuing wisdom above all earthly gain. Verse 10 reminds us not to neglect the fatherless. It speaks directly to those who are raising children without a parent’s presence, encouraging us to act as mothers and fathers through mercy. Wisdom is described as a woman who tests and refines us, but in the end, she reveals her secrets to the faithful.
Sirach 5 urges us to put away pride and presumption. Verses 1-2 warn against trusting in riches or following our own strength. Verse 6 reminds us that delaying repentance invites judgment. Verses 12-17 call us to control our tongues, measure our words, and avoid gossip. Our speech holds power. Wisdom listens before she speaks.
Sirach 6 teaches us to guard our circles. Verse 6 says, “Be in peace with many, nevertheless have but one counsellor of a thousand.” Verse 13 says, “Separate thyself from thine enemies, and take heed of thy friends.” The following verses speak of faithful friendship as a treasure, a stronghold, a healing balm. Verse 17 promises, “Whoso feareth the Lord shall direct his friendship aright.” The presence of Wisdom will guide us into covenant, not convenience.

🤲🏾 Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
I honor You as the defender of the fatherless and the restorer of the broken. I thank You for the Wisdom that not only instructs, but walks with me, tests me, and reveals truth in the quiet places. I repent for the times I have turned away from the vulnerable, spoken carelessly, or built friendships on convenience instead of reverence.
I lift up every fatherless child, every mother raising children alone, and every parent feeling dishonored or unseen. Wrap them in mercy. Shield them in grace. Strengthen them with help from heaven. Let the spirit of Wisdom descend upon their homes.
Help me speak with care, walk in humility, and choose friendship that honors You. May I not delay in doing what is right. May I not wait to repent when You are calling me home. Show me how to build relationships that reflect the fruits of Your Spirit. Let my presence be a place of peace for others. I seal this prayer in refuge. Amen.
